Arcane Foci and Other Materials

Regardless of which Arcane Source a person is drawing from, meddling with the arcane requires something to help the caster focus both the energy and their mind. Typically, this is some sort of physical material that is somehow related to the desired effect. It could also be special words, movements, or rituals.

Sometimes these materials have seemingly no connection to the desired arcane effect. In these cases, a god may be intervening. Alternatively, it may be that there was once an obvious connection, but it has since been forgotten.
